Paphos police on Thursday apprehended a man wanted in connection with a robbery, after a car chase and warning shots fired.

In a statement, the police said that they attempted to flag down a car driven by a 32-year-old man.

The incident occurred in the area of Mesogi.

An arrest warrant had been issued for the man – a suspect in connection with a robbery case under investigation.

The driver refused to pull over, speeding away.

Police gave chase in their vehicles.

At one point they managed to corner the fleeing vehicle, which crashed into a police patrol car.

The suspect exited his vehicle and ran away on foot.

Police officers chased after him, firing warning shots.

They caught the suspect, who was later taken to Paphos CID offices.

The car he was driving had earlier been reported as stolen in the Limassol district.
