The met office on New Year’s Eve issued a yellow weather warning for rain and strong winds.

The warning will be in effect until 10pm, with the met office saying that a “combination of rain, isolated storms, and very strong … winds” are expected to hit the island during the day.

Those winds are expected to reach as high as six or seven on the Beaufort scale, with the weather expected to be most intense on the coasts and in the mountains.
