A 23-year-old was remanded in police custody on Tuesday after 872.9g of cannabis was found in his possession by the drugs squad in Nicosia.

The man appeared before Nicosia district court, which remanded him for seven days.

Authorities discovered cannabis in a parcel at a postal facility in Nicosia during inspections by the customs department and the drug squad.

The 23-year-old attempted to collect the package but refused to give his personal details when police stopped him around 11.45am on Monday.

Police searched his home, seizing €4,670 and electronic devices, including four computers and a mobile phone, for examination.

Authorities are investigating drug importation, possession with intent to supply, money laundering and conspiracy to commit a felony.
