Two candidates are to stand to become the Maronite Cypriot community’s non-voting representative in parliament at the forthcoming election.
Marios Mavrides, 63, who had been a voting MP for Disy since 2011, is now standing for election as a Maronite. He is being challenged by 56-year-old Petros Nacouzi, with both vying to replace the retiring Yiannakis Moussas.
The election will take place alongside the election of 56 members from the Greek Cypriot community on May 24.
