IKEA has unveiled the new KOMPISHÄNG limited-edition collection, created to complement the way young people live today by offering comfort, flexibility and functionality for a lifestyle that is constantly evolving.
Inspired by the lifestyles of young people living in major cities, the KOMPISHÄNG collection has been designed by a new generation of designers who have experienced first-hand the challenges of modern urban living, where compact homes and frequent moves call for flexible and affordable solutions.
The collection features products that combine intelligent design, versatility and portability. Built to stand the test of time and designed to serve multiple purposes, the range helps create a personal sanctuary wherever home may be. Foldable furniture, hanging storage solutions that can be easily installed and removed without leaving marks on walls, multifunctional seating and mirrors with space to display photographs and treasured mementoes all bring together practicality and the warmth of home.
Among the standout pieces in the collection is the KOMPISHÄNG folding desk, which unfolds in seconds without requiring assembly and can be carried with ease thanks to its integrated handle, making it a practical solution for both working and dining.
“Everyone said it wouldn’t be possible to design a folding table using these materials at this price. But I refused to give up,” says designer Constance Thiessoz.
The collection also includes a plant pot that transforms into a protective cover for safely transporting plants, a practical mattress that converts into a pouffe and can be carried like a backpack and a stool set that combines seating with built-in storage, making the most of every inch of living space.
“I wanted to add another function without compromising its simple aesthetic,” explains designer Lukas Albrektsson.
Featuring natural materials, soft wood tones and subtle accents of colour, the new IKEA KOMPISHÄNG collection has been designed to adapt effortlessly to different living spaces while retaining its timeless character, even when home moves to a new address.
As Dora Ding, Product Development Leader, puts it: “Moving home frequently doesn’t mean your home should feel temporary.”
