Six people were arrested for various offences, including drugs, illegal residency and failure to appear in court, during preventive police checks in urban areas across the island on Wednesday night.

Officers pulled over and checked 551 vehicles and 736 driver and passengers, while also carrying out 46 checks of establishments.

The police reported 268 people for various traffic violations, including 92 for speeding, five for drink driving and one for driving under the influence of drugs.
