The Limassol regional tourism board (Etap Limassol) completed a beach clean-up campaign at Dasoudi on Tuesday, working with the Municipality of Amathounta and Oceanic to raise public awareness and encourage greater environmental responsibility.
The initiative formed part of the board’s wider efforts to protect the environment and keep the coastline clean, while highlighting the importance of cooperation between local organisations and businesses in preserving the region’s natural assets.
“Through initiatives such as this, awareness of the need to protect the marine and coastal environment is strengthened, as this is an important part of Limassol’s natural beauty and tourism identity,” Etap Limassol said in an announcement.
Etap Limassol chairman Andreas Tsoulouftas said the board carried out activities in cooperation with public- and private-sector organisations, with the aim of protecting the environment and raising public awareness.
“Dasoudi, rightly described as the ‘green lung of Limassol’, is a valuable green space and recreational area for the city’s residents and visitors, and one that we have a duty to protect and keep clean,” Tsoulouftas said.
He added that the board sought to use meaningful environmental initiatives to foster greater awareness, particularly among children and younger generations, while encouraging them to take an active role in safeguarding the area’s natural wealth.
“Through meaningful initiatives, we seek to cultivate environmental awareness, particularly among children and the younger generation, encouraging their active participation in protecting our natural wealth,” he said.
“Cooperation and environmental education are essential to protecting and preserving our natural environment,” Tsoulouftas concluded.
