Indigo frames her talk by sharing that, unlike her peers – and youth all over the world – when the time came to own a phone, she opted for a flip phone over a smart device, in a move that raised plenty of eyebrows and provoked bafflement among her friends.

But, as she explains, despite being a teen symbol of independence and status, the smartphone is also frequently used without intention, and that was something Indigo both wanted to avoid, and to raise greater awareness about.
