The health ministry announced that one person had died from Covid-19 and that 224 had tested positive from 58,320 PCR and rapid tests, a positivity rate of 0.38 per cent.
The death was that of an 82-year-old woman at Paphos general hospital while 82 patients are receiving treatment for Covid-19, of whom 34 are in serious condition. Of the Covid-19 patients in hospital, 64.64 per cent are unvaccinated.
The total number of reported Covid-19 infections in the Republic now stands at 127,260.
PCR tests identified the following positives: 31 from 708 contact tracing tests, three from 1,575 airport tests and 50 from 1,767 tests taken privately.
Rapid tests taken privately – typically amongst the unvaccinated who are not eligible for the government’s free programme – totalled 32,205 and identified 102 positives.
The government’s screening programme for eligible groups uncovered 38 infections from 21,624 rapid tests.
One person tested positive at a care home in Limassol, while just one primary school student tested positive and there were 11 positives at secondary schools.
