Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides will hold talks with United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington DC on February 1 and 2.

According to the Cyprus News Agency, Kasoulides will leave Cyprus on January 30. Negotiations between the two governments are currently underway to organise other potential meetings with US officials during the minister’s stay.

During his talks with Blinken, Kasoulides, who recently replaced Nikos Christodoulides, will focus on Cyprus-US bilateral relations, the Cyprus problem, the energy issues in the Eastern Mediterranean and Turkey’s provocations in the area.

Before leaving for the US, Kasoulides is also scheduled to meet the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell on January 24 in Brussels, on the fringe of a Council of Foreign Ministers.
