Police arrested a 42-year-old man for the illegal possession and use of drugs with the intent to supply, as well as traffic offences.
Traffic police noticed that the car’s road tax had expired on 31st December 2021 during routine traffic checks on the Limassol-Nicosia motorway late on Saturday night.
Police followed the vehicle and signaled for the driver to pull over. However, the driver picked up speed and made his getaway at the Ayios Tychonas exit to Limassol, violating numerous traffic signals. In his attempt to re-enter the motorway, the driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the metal railings on the side of the road before coming to a standstill.
On further investigation of the vehicle, police discovered several plastic packages which contained metamphetamines weighing 650 grams.
