Attempted murder in Oroklini, man and child injured (Update)

Larnaca police are investigating an attempted murder after gunshots were fired at a moving vehicle on Sunday.

Two men aged 39 and 42 were in the car, as well as a six-year-old child. While they were driving in Oroklini at around 5:30am, an unknown person fired at the car as it was moving.

The 42-year-old passenger and six-year-old child were injured. The man was taken to Larnaca general hospital with injuries to his leg and stomach, while the child is in Makarios hospital in Nicosia after sustaining injuries to the leg.

Their health condition is out of danger, police said.

The scene is closed off and police are carrying out investigations.

A firearm, gloves and a hood were found close to the scene. Officers are expected to see if they can find any DNA traces on them to track down a suspect, while police is also scouring CCTV footage.
