Boat with 13 migrants rescued near Cape Greco (Updated)

The new rescue point in Cape Greco

Authorities on Sunday said 13 migrants had been rescued from a boat off the coast of Cape Greco, which included three minors.

The boat’s 24-year-old driver was arrested and remanded for eight days.

According to police, officers saw the boat southeast of Cape Greco on Saturday at 3pm. The boat appeared to be filled with water and the migrants were rescued and brought to shore.

The 24-year-old was detained while the migrants were taken to Pournara reception centre.
