Cocktail party features elements of traditional taverna

Can a party featuring signature contemporary cocktails also bring characteristic elements of a traditional Cypriot tavern? In their upcoming fiesta on December 30, that is what High&Wet promises. Held at Antonakis Music Hall in old Nicosia, a beautiful age-old venue, this end-of-December party is one of the most unique events High&Wet has organised, and one of the most ridiculous ideas they are putting together, as they say.

Why? Because they are taking the vibe of the traditional village tavern and marrying it with the concept of a new-age cocktail bar. Here’s how that will work: the party will feature a small cocktail list with flavours usually found in taverns filtered through the High&Wet concept. Bottle service at tables and a food buffet featuring local flavours will add to the night following the Cypriot concept of ‘tsilliman’, otherwise known as finger food bites.

The party will begin at 8.30pm and until 2.30am, guests will be able to dance to music by a couple of favourite Cyprus DJs. Panais will open up the decks, followed by a set by the popular duo Mighty Scoop and Pueblo Franco.

Adding to the evening’s traditional feel, a kazanti stall will be set up offering games and chances to drink, play Do or Drink cards and other challenges that relate to traditional tavern shenanigans. Think plate-breaking and tissue-throwing. Just 250 tickets are available, costing €15 each for an alternative night infused with Cypriot traditions.
