The Nicosia International Festival, in collaboration with the Press and Information Office, presents a new series of features, Art in the City. The PIO has documented the work of Cypriot artists from various fields, aiming to highlight the historical and cultural heritage of Cyprus. The series is showcased at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre as a parallel event of the 5th Nicosia International Festival.
Nicosia International Festival attendees will have the opportunity to watch the tribute series where renowned Cypriot artists share their paths, inspirations and creations. The episodes focus on painters, sculptors and other artists, bridging the past with the present through fresh, creative approaches. Emphasis is placed on how their art connects to the society and history of the island.
The direction of the series has been undertaken by Cypriot filmmakers who capture the beauty of art through their cameras, offering high-quality productions that illuminate both the artistic diversity and the unique contribution of these creators to Cyprus’ cultural life.
The screenings will be shown on TV screens throughout the week from 10am and 1pm at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre and one hour before each performance. Next to be screened will be Maria Loizidou’s story, on until December 31.
Opening the series 2025 programme will be Nikos Kouroussis whose video will be screened from January 1 to 15, followed by Christos Foukaras from January 16 to 31.
