Police in Paphos arrested two individuals, aged 34 and 37, for an investigated case of burglary and theft after officers caught the the suspects in possession of stolen goods.

According the police, the men’s car was stopped for a check around 7.15pm on Sunday. In the search that followed officers found jewellery items, such as rings, earrings and watches, for which the two suspects could not provide adequate explanation.

Later, around 9pm two tourists reported a burglary of their place of stay, involving the theft of gold jewellery and watches, to the Peyia police station.

The two complainants were shown the items found in the possession of the two suspects which they identified as their belongings.

Arrest warrants were issued against the two men who were taken into custody while Peyia police are furthering the investigation.
