Police on Thursday arrested a fourth person in connection with an attempted murder earlier this month in the village of Kornos, Larnaca district.

The fourth suspect is a man aged 23 years. Police said they would go before a judge on Friday to request a remand order to keep the man in custody for questioning.

Three other suspects remain in police custody, having been arrested last Monday and last Saturday.

Multiple shots were fired in an outdoor area in Kornos on January 9, with the 30-year-old victim hospitalised after the incident, and having briefly been in a critical condition.

The police currently believe that at around 2pm on the day in question, the 30-year-old visited an area in the village with the aim of meeting people over the sale of a car.

There, he was approached by a vehicle, with four men, two of whom were allegedly armed with pistols, getting out.

The 30-year-old attempted to escape, but was shot several times, suffering injuries to his hand and shoulder blade.

Larnaca CID is investigating.
