Soon, the whole island – the world actually – will celebrate the day of love. Dozens of Valentine’s Day-inspired events are approaching, each offering a different way to mark the day. An upcoming event in Limassol is a two-day occasion and celebrates not only love but also dance. The Celebrity Gala returns with a Love Dance, presenting an unparalleled evening of exquisite ballet.

On February 13 and 14, the stage of the Pattihio Theatre will transform into a realm for grace, passion, and storytelling, uniting the brightest stars of the global ballet scene. Among the luminaries performing are Kristina Kretova, Igor Tsvirko and Denis Savin (Bolshoi Theatre), Anna Tsygankova and Georgi Potskhishvili (Dutch National Ballet), Ksenia Shevtsova (Bavarian State Ballet), Ivan Mikhalyov (Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre), Elisa Carrillo Cabrera (Mexican National Dance Company), and Mikhail Kaniskin (Berlin State Opera). Together, they will bring the magic of dance to Cyprus in performances that promise to leave a lasting impression.

A carefully curated programme has been created to honour this special occasion. It is divided into three inspired acts. Monaxia is a poetic ballet inspired by Greek mythology, starring Bolshoi Theatre principal dancer Kristina Kretova. This masterpiece tells the poignant story of the Moon Goddess and her eternal love, brought to life through the captivating choreography of Dmitry Maslennikov.

Love Song is a one-act ballet by visionary choreographer Andrei Kaidanovsky, offering an intimate exploration of the many layers of human emotion. Contemporary Gems will highlight a fragment from Radio and Juliet, choreographed by the internationally acclaimed Edward Clug to the music of Radiohead, and other striking works by Christopher Wheeldon, Mauro Bigonzetti, including the evocative Caravaggio, and more.

“Each performance is a story told through movement,” say organisers, “a celebration of love that touches the deepest corners of the soul. This event is more than an evening of ballet, it is a cultural milestone for Cyprus. Hosting world-class artists of this calibre solidifies the island’s position on the international cultural map and reflects the growing appreciation for high-quality arts and culture within the community. Some of these extraordinary talents have already captured the hearts of Cypriot audiences, while others will perform on the island for the first time, thanks to Celebrity Gala.”
