An out-of-space experience! That is what Thursday’s event at ARTos House in Nicosia will be, with visitors learning everything there is to know about black holes. Following the success of a previous space event at ARTos about the planets, 1010 Cosmos will host another happening exploring another hot topic.
The event is part of the CARES programme (Cyprus Awareness Raising & Education Study), funded by the European Space Agency. It begins at 6pm with the first event starting at 6.15pm. This will be a series of free screenings of the production Supermassive Black Holes: Uncovering the Invisible.
Audiences will have the opportunity to learn how humanity is trying to solve the puzzle of these mysterious objects using new technologies and exciting new research and observation methods. Following each screening, CARES scientists will highlight the key topics and answer questions with sessions in Greek and English.
The 6.15pm and 7.45pm Q&A will be held in Greek while the 7pm and 8.30pm sessions will be in English. And that is not all. While the screenings are happening, there will be free stargazing telescopes, accompanied by experienced astronomers who will answer questions and help visitors locate stars and more.
“Learn how a telescope works,” say organisers, “and what we can observe in the starry sky. Meet other astronomy enthusiasts and observe the Nicosia night sky with us!”
