The Drama International Short Film Festival returns once again to Cyprus, bringing award-winning short films to the island. This special event offers cinephiles the opportunity to enjoy outstanding short films, celebrating the art of cinema. Film lovers in Limassol, Nicosia and Paphos are in for a treat.

What’s even more exciting, the film screenings have free admission and English subtitles – an addition by the festival in recent years to ensure accessibility for a broader audience, enhancing the experience of the big screen’s magic.

To bring films from abroad to three Cypriot cities, a collaborative effort was needed. The deputy ministry of culture worked with the Rialto Theatre, and the Drama International Short Film Festival, the Nicosia Friends of Cinema Society, the Paphos House of Literature and Arts, and the Limassol Film Club to make this happen.

Although the Drama International Short Film Festival takes place annually in September, it travels around the globe in other seasons to showcase the work of emerging filmmakers. This February 17-19, it is Cyprus’ turn.

As every year, representatives of the Drama Festival and participating directors will attend the screenings in all cities to engage in discussions with the audience. This year’s special guests include Evanna Venardou from the festival’s organising team along with directors Phoebus Imellos (Wings) and Alki Papastathopoulos (Honeymoon).

The screenings will begin in Nicosia on February 17, showing five films. The same films will be screened in Paphos and Limassol on the following evening. Four more films will be screened in Nicosia on February 18 before they travel to the other two cities on February 19.

In Paphos, the screenings at the House of Literature & Arts will begin at 7.30pm, in Nicosia, Pantheon Theatre at 8pm and in Limassol, at Rialto Theatre at 8.30pm.
