Chicago to be presented in Nicosia for seven shows only

The razzle-dazzle criminal acts of Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly are landing in Cyprus soon as a stellar performance from Broadway embarks on a European tour that reaches our corner of the Mediterranean. Nicosia audiences will be lucky to catch the musical at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre this month for a limited number of performances.

Seven shows will run from February 19 to 23. A limited number of tickets are left as audiences rush to see an exquisite cast of actors and dancers live, with all of Chicago’s murder mystery, sexy numbers.

The show is the longest-running musical in Broadway history and features music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. Starring alongside this acclaimed production and its talented cast selected from the elite of London’s West End and Broadway, is a Greek artist for the first time. Nadia Boule will play the dashing role of Roxie Hart, while Laura Tyrer will portray Velma Kelly, Matt Blaker stars as Billy Flynn and Amy Webb as Mama Morton.

With outstanding talent and magnetic stage presence, each cast member will bring their unique style to the iconic roles of Roxie Hart, Velma Kelly, Billy Flynn and the unforgettable characters of Chicago. Recognised as one of the most legendary Broadway productions of all time, this multi-award-winning musical promises an unforgettable theatrical experience.

Set in 1920s Chicago, during the Prohibition era, the show follows the gripping story of Roxie Hart, a small-time dancer with big dreams of fame. When Roxie becomes entangled in a scandalous murder case, she hires the slick and charismatic lawyer Billy Flynn to manipulate the press and sway public opinion in her favour. But Roxie soon realises she isn’t the only one fighting for the spotlight – her fellow inmate, Velma Kelly, a vaudeville star, is also battling for fame and freedom amidst the chaos of Cook County Jail.

This week will be a dazzling one for the island’s cultural scene with Nicosia taking front and centre. The musical will transport audiences back to the roaring twenties to witness a dazzling tale of crime, passion and the search for fame. Best of all, the performance will remain in its original language, English, and include surtitles in Greek, welcoming audiences of all backgrounds.
