The Aeon Trio, featuring soprano Mariza Anastasiades, flute player Savvas Christodoulou and pianist Marianna Georgiou, returns to Markideio Theatre on Sunday, April 6 with a concert titled Mediterranean Echoes. Inspired by the rich musical heritage of Cyprus, the concert showcases contemporary Cypriot and Greek composers.
The aim is to promote cultural creativity and present rarely performed works. The programme includes compositions by Cypriots Charis Sophocleous and Evagoras Karageorgis, and Greek Christos Samaras, along with a world premiere – a Cypriot Suite, featuring traditional Cypriot songs especially arranged for the Trio by the renowned Neoklis Neophytides.
With this concert, Aeon contributes both to the promotion and evolution of this repertoire, offering the audience a unique opportunity to explore new sonic perspectives of the Mediterranean. Tickets are now on sale on the organiser’s website Technopolis 20.
This exciting concert filled with plenty of Cypriot flair, is not the only one at the Paphos cultural centre in April. Earlier in April, a piano sound challenging experience will take place on April 3 where audiences will sit on the ground and be transported to a relaxing, meditative state through the piano sounds of spiritual teacher and multi-instrumentalist René Amtenbrink.
Also happening next month is a guitar recital, a choir performance from Strasbourg and an album presentation of two local musicians. Details for each event are coming soon.
