Looking for live entertainment tonight? The a cappella choir Astoria Voices, led by Victoria Zazhmitskaia, will hold its debut solo concert at 8pm at Lab Restaurant & Bar, Limassol. Formed in 2023 after a spontaneous invitation from singer Nikolas Antoniades, the choir brings together Russian-speaking vocalists from various cities — including Paphos and Nicosia — many of whom work in the IT industry.

“In March 2023, I received a phone call from Nikolas Antoniades — a singer and friend — who asked if I would consider leading a choir,” says Zazhmitskaia. “With my extensive experience as a church choir conductor, I agreed immediately — I could hear the passion in their voices. And so, we began: Tatiana, Igor, Pavel Alexeev and I. We explored sacred music, jazz, and even arrangements by Pentatonix. Gradually, word spread and more people expressed interest in joining.”

The choir now includes sopranos Ulia Zolvanova, Nadezda Gorbacheva and Evgenia Zharikova, altos Tatiana Malevankina and Olga Yakubenko, tenors Egor Maleev and Pavel Konstantinov and basses Konstantin Fadeev, Artem Ilin and Mikhail Buryakov.

Having already performed at Louvara Christmas Village and a Limassol rehabilitation centre, the choir is now ready for a new chapter, combining sacred music, jazz and modern a cappella styles. The performance venue, Lab Restaurant & Bar (33 Anexartisias St), was chosen for its stylish atmosphere, excellent cuisine, and vibrant cocktail selection.

“With its superb cocktail menu and delicious cuisine,” concludes Victoria, “it offers the perfect Friday evening experience — elevated by live music.”
