Cyprus Seeds is seeking to expand its small team by recruiting two new professionals, as the organisation strengthens its role in supporting research commercialisation and innovation projects in Cyprus and abroad.

The non-profit company, which for seven years has been running an 18-month innovation grant programme for Cypriot researchers, is looking to hire a Head of the Innovation Support Unit and an Innovation Project Officer.

Cyprus Seeds currently has three staff members but aims to grow to six. The new roles will support its expanding portfolio of activities, which now includes major European-funded projects.

For the Head of the Innovation Support Unit, the organisation is seeking an experienced professional for full-time employment who will manage and coordinate European-funded projects in which Cyprus Seeds participates.

These include PHAETHON, a Horizon Europe initiative to upgrade the FOSS Research Centre for Sustainable Energy of the University of Cyprus into a Centre of Excellence, and DiGiNN, the national digital innovation hub.

Responsibilities for this role include leading Cyprus Seeds’ involvement in these projects, coordinating deliverables, preparing reports for the European Commission and national authorities, developing innovation management services, and setting up the PHAETHON Innovation Hub with support from Denmark’s DTU Skylab.

The position requires at least a master’s degree, experience in Horizon Europe project coordination and proposal writing, knowledge of research commercialisation and intellectual property, strong communication skills in English, and willingness to travel.

Additional qualifications such as project management certification and experience in entrepreneurship or technology transfer are considered desirable.

Cyprus Seeds said the role comes with an attractive salary, a thirteenth salary, hybrid work options, and opportunities to work with universities, researchers, EU institutions and international partners.

The organisation is also hiring an Innovation Project Officer to provide operational support and to assist in the delivery of Cyprus Seeds’ tasks in the PHAETHON project.

This role will focus on supporting internal operations and coordinating activities linked to the organisation’s European project portfolio.

Cyprus Seeds explained that these recruitments reflect its growing presence in the innovation ecosystem.

For the past seven years, it has supported the commercialisation of academic research in Cyprus, funding 24 scientific projects and helping to create five spin-offs and two licensing agreements.

It provides grants, mentoring, training, and networking opportunities, while maintaining strong partnerships with international organisations such as The MIT Deshpande Centre, The Hellenic Initiative, the egg accelerator, Conception X, and DTU’s Skylab.

The organisation also plays an innovation partner role in the €45 million PHAETHON Centre of Excellence, which focuses on intelligent and sustainable energy solutions, and in the DiGiNN project, the national one-stop shop for digital transformation with a focus on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, high performance computing and digital skills.

Cyprus Seeds was recently ranked by the Financial Times in 2025 as one of Europe’s Leading Start-up Hubs, among 3,000 candidates across the continent.

Applicants for the new positions are invited to send their CVs by September 30, 2025, to [email protected].
