Back for the sixth consecutive year is Rialto Theatre’s Flash Art, which evolved from an initiative supporting Cypriot creators into a festival of contemporary performing arts.
Flash Art Festival 2025 (November 28–29) brings to the stage seven original productions of theatre, dance, music and performance, highlighting the vibrant and restless spirit of Cyprus’ contemporary creative scene.
The festival’s opening day, Friday, November 28, unfolds as a multifaceted journey through the poetic, the dark and the redemptive. From the music-infused theatrical parable by Elena Agathokleous, to Nefeli Kentoni’s dreamlike stage universe, and the explosive live energy of Salty River, the audience is invited to experience an evening where art meets confession and inner revolution.
First up, lifting the curtain at 7pm is Elena Agathokleous’ I Fall Like a Waterfall. The performance is a powerful musical performance-parable, written in the Cypriot Greek dialect, that moves between personal confession and choral experience.
Agathokleous, in collaboration with Marios Pavlou, presents an original work that merges text, music and movement, exploring the human condition through a contemporary poetic lens.
The stage becomes a cascade of voice and rhythm, with Marianna Michail performing live music, in collaboration with Alexandros Papadopoulos and Kalax, while Konstantina Peter creates the projected visual landscape.
At 8.15pm, Nefeli Kentoni will present Constellation of Awakening which is set to transport audiences into a world immersed in eternal darkness — a place where the horizon has collapsed and dreams seep into real life.
Young director and visual artist Kentoni conceives a multisensory experience where sound, movement and shifting visual landscapes compose a collective dream, balancing on the edge of consciousness and sleep, resistance and surrender.
Rather than seeking escape, the piece explores how dreaming itself can become an act of resistance — a way to heal, transform and reimagine.
Wrapping up day one’s performances is SALTY RIVER – A Journey from Within by Constantinos Pelekanis at 9.30pm. The indie/alternative rock band Salty River will present haunting melodies and deep rhythms that reveal the richness of alternative sound.
Constantinos Pelekanis, Martyna Sytek, Alekos Hadjipavlos, Alvertos Mouzouris, Eftychia Athinodorou and Nefeli Karageorgi invite the audience on a musical journey from light to darkness, where dynamic guitars, violin and cello merge into a wave of sound and emotion.
On the second and final day of the festival, three more productions will take to the Rialto Theatre stage. Details will follow shortly.
