With just over a month left of 2025, cultural organisers are busy planning ahead for next year’s festival season. Returning with an outstanding selection of Greek drama productions is the International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama, which will be held in summer 2026.
With preparations already underway, the contemporary culture department of the deputy ministry of culture and the Cyprus Centre of the International Theatre Institute have announced the opening of submissions for proposals by Cypriot theatre groups and individuals, as well as theatre groups and individuals residing outside Cyprus.
With its 29th edition, the festival continues to present performances of ancient Greek drama that highlight its distinctive nature, based on the original text of the tragedians (Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides) and comedians (Aristophanes, Menander) of Greek antiquity.
Theatre groups or individuals interested in submitting a proposal for participation in the 2026 International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama should use the official application form available on the festival’s website: www.greekdramafest.com and send in their submissions before January 14.
