A water tank weighing a tonne and a half fell on a parked car as high winds hit Cyprus on Thursday.

The tank fell off the top of a block of flats in the northern Nicosia suburb of Ortakoy at around 3.45pm.

According to the Turkish Cypriot police, the fire brigade was deployed to the scene and “took precautions against the possibility of a fire in the vehicle”.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
