Limassol’s coastline and its people are the focal point of a solo photography exhibition ongoing at The Edit Gallery. Christos Hadjichristou’s showcase Apovathra / Power Beach brings together two photographic series created along the Limassol coastline: Apovathra, a series of portraits of youngsters encountered at the historic pier, and Power Beach, focused on adults training at Dasoudi Beach.
In Apovathra, the subjects meet the lens directly. This creates an immediate exchange that blurs the boundary between viewer and subject, capturing the transitional stage between adolescence and adulthood.
This relationship shifts in Power Beach. Here, athletes are captured absorbed in movement, turning their gaze away from the lens. The focus moves toward discipline, effort and physical control.
Together, the two series trace a passage from youth to maturity and from stillness to strength. Hadjichristou works with both analogue and digital medium-format cameras. Film-based works follow traditional processes of development, while digital images are approached with the same deliberate pace and attention to materiality. This slower, tactile approach introduces a quiet romanticism to the images and reinforces their authenticity and physical presence.

Set within the shared landscape of Limassol’s coastline, the exhibition reflects on people in moments of transition, effort and visibility within public space.
