On the island for a limited run of performances, the musical-theatre production by Petros Zoulias, Malista Kirie Zampeta arrives full of energy and spirit. With an acclaimed cast featuring Vicky Stavropoulou, Kostas Koklas, Danae Barka, Lefteris Eleftheriou, Antonis Krombas, Christina Tsafou and Thodoris Atheridis, the play will tour three Cypriot cities this spring.

Marking its Cyprus debut, the play will be presented first in Nicosia on May 17-19 at Skali Aglandjias before heading to Limassol on May 21 and 22 for shows at the Municipal Garden Theatre Marios Tokas. Its final Cyprus performances will take place in Larnaca’s Pattihio Amphitheatre on May 23.

Malista Kirie Zampeta follows the events of the personal life of the great composer Giorgos Zampetas alongside a wealth of his beloved songs. With a script full of humour and emotion, Zoulias’ production attempts to highlight the unique personality of the great Greek artist. The material that comes to life on stage is drawn from the revealing book by Katerina Zampeta titled Giorgos Zampetas, Vathia sti Thalassa Tha Mpo.

The production makes unique use of rare audio recordings featuring vivid narrations by the composer himself. It also includes excerpts from Greek films he scored, as well as television interviews he gave.

In this way, through an exciting and unpredictable approach, the popular composer, without being portrayed by an actor, is present throughout, commenting, intervening and revealing his truths and views on the events unfolding on stage.
