Every child and adult knows the story of the White Rabbit and his pocket watch, the mad hatter’s tea party, the vanishing Cheshire Cat, and the dazzling, ever-curious Alice. It is a 160-year-old story Lewis Carroll wrote that now comes alive on stage as a ballet, travelling to Cyprus this May.

Presented by Celebrity Gala, the international Ballet Philippines, founded in 1969, lands in Cyprus as part of its 2026 European tour to amplify the magical and mysterious world of Alice in Wonderland.

“It’s a story everyone knows and loves,” say organisers. “Alice follows the White Rabbit and finds herself in a world where logic doesn’t work, time runs backwards, and flowers can argue. Everything here is simultaneously funny and absurd and completely real.”

Against colourful, detailed set design, a renowned cast of dancers and actors in exquisite costumes, the performance is enriched by the music of Claude Debussy. Soft, airy melodies accompany dances and unspoken dialogues as the story comes to life.

“The music lulls, then suddenly sweeps you into a whirlwind, then falls silent and in that silence, something extraordinary happens. It is the music that makes you feel Wonderland is real.”

Coming to Limassol on May 12 and 13, the ballet production is set to dazzle audiences of all ages, as young as four years old. With twists, humour, the fluffy Cheshire Cat, the fiery Queen and artful choreography, there is bound to be no dull moment.

“Adults, meanwhile, will find their own layer,” add organisers, “a story about courage, and about how important it is not to lose yourself when the world around you stops making sense.”
