Gloria Gallery presents the new solo painting exhibition of the distinguished Cypriot artist Silia Philippou, titled The Allure of the Visible, opening on Friday at 7pm. Inaugurating the exhibition is Greek ambassador Konstantinos Kollias.
This exhibition forms part of the artist’s long-standing and consistent artistic trajectory. Based in Athens, where she lives and works, Silia Philippou maintains a strong and active connection with the Cypriot art scene.
With a significant presence in solo and group exhibitions in Cyprus and internationally, and with works held in public and private collections across Europe, the Middle East and the United States, Philippou has developed a distinctive visual language centred on the expressive power of colour and a poetic interpretation of nature.
This new body of work represents a natural evolution of her artistic journey, continuing a dialogue with themes explored in earlier series. In her work, nature becomes a source of emotional intensity and inner energy. Colour assumes a leading role, transforming visual perception into a deeply immersive experience.
Professor of art history, Giannis Kolokotronis said Philippou’s painting “constitutes a hymn to light and the joy of life,” where the sensorial qualities and pulsating vibrations of colour generate powerful visual resonance and renew the viewer’s relationship with the natural world.
The Allure of the Visible invites the public to an experience of aesthetic pleasure and inner elevation, highlighting the timeless power of painting to transform reality through light, colour, and the artist’s gaze.
