A 50-year-old prisoner died at the Nicosia general hospital during the early hours of Thursday morning.

The man, a Greek national, was serving a six-year sentence after being convicted of drug-related offences.

He died at around 1.20am, having been in hospital for around two months due to what the police described as “serious health problems”.

The police said that “all required procedures are being followed”.
