A concert to mark the Queen’s jubilee and the friendship between Britain and Cyprus will be organised by the British bases at Curium on June 2, it was announced on Monday.
In an official statement, the British bases said the event “will celebrate the platinum jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, her service to the UK over 70 years and her close support to her Armed Forces. The concert will also celebrate the friendship and partnership between the UK and Cyprus, a Commonwealth country.”
Money raised from the event will be donated to two Cypriot children’s cancer charities, Little Heroes and One Dream One Wish, and one British charity which supports service families.
The event features a mix of British and Cypriot performers and topping the bill will be the renowned Diastasis chorus and dance group who will be joined by Cypriot sopranos, Aliki Chrysochou and Maria Papaioannou.
Giving the event a military flavour will be the band from the Royal Signals and the Military Wives Choir.
Commander of the British armed forces in Cyprus, Major General Rob Thomson, said that in addition to honouring the queen, the concert will be “an act of celebration and a musical spectacular” and an opportunity to celebrate the close friendship and partnership with Cyprus.
Tickets for the event will go on sale on April 19 and are priced at €15. To purchase online, visit: https://Shop.tickethour.com
