Two people were rescued by the fire service after their four-wheel drive vehicle fell down an eight-metre gorge on Saturday, fire service spokesman Andreas Kettis said.

The 36-year-old man and 38-year-old woman were taken by ambulance to the A&E at Nicosia general hospital.

The two were both conscious when brought onto a dirt road by the fire service before being handed over to the ambulance service.
