The Islamic holy month of Ramadan is set to begin on Saturday.
The first taraweeh prayer of the month will take place on Friday night, with fasting set to begin at sunrise on Saturday following the first suhoor meal of the month.
Turkish Cypriots and other Muslims across the island will fast throughout daylight hours, with the first fast to be broken at 5.51pm on Saturday with iftar, the name for the meal eaten just after sunset.
Fasting will continue for 29 days, with Eid al-Fitr to begin on March 30.
