Two people were arrested in Limassol on Sunday after a teenager reported the previous day that he had been kidnapped, police said.

Police said the arrests were made for a case of conspiracy to cause harm, kidnap and robbery which were carried out on Friday in Limassol.

The arrested men are aged 29 and 24.

They were later taken to Limassol district court, which remanded them in police custody for three days.

The 17-year-old reported on Saturday that he had been kidnapped, beaten, and threatened with being killed.

He said he was taken to an isolated area at Kolossi castle where his phone was stolen, left abandoned and told if he spoke a word over what happened, his house would be burned, according to police.

The incident unfolded at around 11:45pm when the teen was taken from outside a kiosk.

The teenager later walked home, and accompanied with his mother reported the matter to police.
