The donation will be used to support the Centre’s daily operations, enabling it to continue offering high-quality screening programmes focused on prenatal and neonatal screening.

The Centre’s screening programmes are offered free of charge to the entire population of Cyprus, upholding the principle of equal access to public health services and ensuring universal participation.

Through these programmes, the Centre aims for the early detection of each disorder and the timely intervention and treatment where required, so children have a healthy development and quality of life.

The three screening programmes offered by the Centre for Preventive Pediatrics “Americos Argyriou” are:

  • The Prenatal Screening Programme, aimed at the early diagnosis of chromosomal abnormalities and offered to all pregnant women during the first trimester of pregnancy.
  • The Neonatal Preventive Screening Programme, focused on the early diagnosis of metabolic disorders in newborns.
  • The Neonatal Hearing Screening Programme, designed to detect and diagnose congenital hearing loss, which a newborn may be born with.
