After receiving a tip off, police said on Sunday afternoon they had found seven pistols in an open area of Nicosia.

The weapons were reportedly found in Makedonitissa, and according to reports were in backpack that was hidden in the weeds.

All of the guns are in a useable condition.

They were seized and will be sent for examinations.

A strong police presence remains in the area to conduct a search while CCTV footage from the area is being examined.
