Thirteen people were arrested during nationwide operations on Wednesday night, the police said on Thursday.

The arrests involved various offences, including vehicle arson, illegal drug possession, carrying knives, and possessing forged documents and the circulation of counterfeit banknotes.

Officers checked 680 drivers and 227 passengers during the operations, inspecting 42 premises, which resulted in three citations.

Additionally, the police issued 339 traffic citations and are investigating nine additional offences.

Speeding was the most common violation, with 89 drivers reported for exceeding the speed limit. Five vehicles were impounded.

The police conducted 165 alcohol tests, with six returning positive results, and one driver tested positive in a preliminary drug test.
