Three police officers have been suspended following a complaint that an individual was assaulted at a nightclub in Paphos, police said on Friday.

The officers, aged 36, 43 and 44, were placed on leave on the instructions of deputy police chief Panikos Stavrou while the case is investigated.

Police said the alleged assault took place in the early hours of Thursday, August 13, while the three officers were off duty.

The investigation began after a member of the public reported that he had been attacked by four people while at a nightclub in Paphos.

Police subsequently established that three of the four people allegedly involved were members of the force.

The three officers are being investigated for assault causing actual bodily harm.

The case is being handled by Paphos CID.
