Reviving the tales of Ayioi Omologites

echoes of the city eleni ph.1

It is a humble, charming neighbourhood of Nicosia, situated in the centre of the city yet just outside the bustle and hustle. Ayioi Omologites is known for its picturesque family homes and central church, just a few metres away from Pediaios river yet besides its pretty nooks and crannies, the area is full of historical tales.

Tombs, views and old establishments are waiting to be visited and an upcoming event by the Ayioi Omologites Cultural Workshop invites all to discover them through fun, interactive tours.

Echoes of the City, Ayioi Omologites is a European programme within which May 22’s tours are taking place. All throughout the day, visitors will roam around the neighbourhood in groups guided by a map, printed or digital, that will take them through the various stops.

At each stop, different animators will bring historical figures to life or personas of the neighbourhood, urging the visitors to observe, engage and learn about the numerous historical tales and facts of the area. Prompted by a QR code on a smartphone, tour-goers will be led through the various spots of interest.

Four tours will take place at 10.30am, 12pm, 3pm and 4.30pm setting off from the Cultural Workshop to uncover the hidden tales of the neighbourhood.
