The Serbian team celebrate their victory

The 14th Pan-European Small Federation Bridge Games, held at the Sun Hall Hotel in Larnaca last week, have been completed with great success.

The autumn coastal front of the Finikoudes combined with the relatively high temperatures for the season created an ideal setting for the holding of the games. The visiting players were able to combine high-quality bridge with some swimming.

The matches were exciting with 12 of the 15 teams fighting for the trophy all the way. The big winner in the end was Serbia, with Estonia second and the Faroe Islands third.
Cyprus fought equally against all opponents, even beating eventual winners Serbia, but were eventually limited to ninth place. If there has not been unfortunate results against the three weakest teams, Cyprus might have won.

In his statements, the president of the European Federation congratulated the Cyprus Bridge Federation for organising the event and said that he is looking forward to visiting the island again the next time he undertakes a pan-European event.

The Cyprus Bridge Federation especially thanks its sponsors and supporters, specifically the Cyprus Sports Organisation, Larnaca Tourism Development Company, Petrolina, Larnaca Municipality and Zorbas bakery.

Bridge is a mind sport enjoyed by people of all ages. For more information contact 70002345.
