Turkish Cypriot journalists gathered outside the north’s ‘presidential’ palace on Wednesday morning to protest the alleged ejection of journalist Serhat İncirli from the press pack at the palace on Monday.

The protestors were predominantly members of the left-wing journalists’ trade union Basın-Sen.

İncirli claims that despite having the correct accreditation, he was ordered to leave joint speech between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar during the former’s visit to the north. Tatar’s office denies he had the correct accreditation.
