Police said Tuesday they have arrested a third suspect in connection with the arson of six company cars in Frenaros over the weekend.

Famagusta police said they arrested the 31-year-old suspect on Monday after securing evidence implicating him in the arson.

Another two people, aged 37 and 38, were arrested on Monday in the same case.

The three were remanded  in custody for three days on Tuesday.

Authorities launched an investigation after concluding that the fire, which started at around 2am on six cars parked in an open space in Frenaros, was caused by an improvised explosive device. The device had been placed under one of the cars.

The fire service extinguished the fire but the cars were destroyed.
