Coronavirus: 15 fines after 2,985 checks

Police on Tuesday said they issued 15 fines after 2,985 checks for the implementation of coronavirus protocols in the last 24 hours.

Most checks, 1,243 were carried out in Nicosia where three people were booked for violating the measures. Six people were also fined in Limassol after 186 checks, one in Larnaca following 540 inspections and two in Famagusta after 351 checks.

One business and two individuals were fined in Paphos after 132 checks, while no violations were reported in Morphou following 285 inspections, police said.

Traffic, marine and port police also carried out 193 and 55 checks respectively, without any bookings.

The main violations include failure to wear a facemask and carry a SafePass.

The checks were carried out between 6am on Monday and 6am on Tuesday.
