Turkish Cypriot media on Tuesday reported that the 315kg of halloumi seized by police from a private vehicle in Paphos on Monday originated in the north.

The cheese did not have any customary markings.

According to reports, it was smuggled from north to south before being found by police following a tip off.

Police said they are unable to determine the origin of the products, which have been handed over to the veterinary services.
