Three people who found themselves in peril on Sunday by diving at the sea caves in Cape Greco   in Ayia Napa hand to be rescued by an Emak emergency response crew.

A statement from the Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) said that around 1pm they received a call about three people who found themselves in trouble at the sea caves.

Rescuers pulled them from the sea. No one was injured.

The centre reminds the public that “approaching and diving at the site of the sea caves is strictly prohibited because according to an inspection by the geological survey department, the ground has been judged to be dangerous due to increased erosion.”

The centre also said that due to increased visits of people during summer, the JRCC, in collaboration with volunteers, and with the support of Cyta, was setting up four rescue points deemed to be high risk.

These are the sea caves and also Agioi Anargyros, both in Cape Greco, the pier at the old port of Limassol and the beach Ta Bania in Kato Paphos.

Each rescue point includes a lifebuoy with a rope for immediate help to keep someone afloat. The lifebuoys will be stored in hard cases on the spot.
