Relax and indulge in the beauty of lavender is the motto this year for the Lavender Festival in Platres, which highlights the magic of ‘the Queen of Herbs’ in all its glory.

On July 2, the central square of Platres will fill with purple flower creations as the Lavender Market sets out its stalls. Twenty five producers and exhibitors from all over Cyprus will showcase their creations while an entertainment programme unfolds throughout the day. What’s more, visitors will also be able to enjoy bites infused with the protagonist of the day – lavender.

“Purely thematic, interactive and educational,” add the organisers, “the Lavender Festival has become a platform for the promotion of innovative products and lavender producers from all over Cyprus, offering visitors an experience that covers all the senses. Lavender has so many properties that we can experience it in elite gastronomy experiences, as a means of relaxation, health and wellness but also as a way of beauty for the skin, body and hair.

“The English lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), which is found in Platres, is the most fragrant variety and produces the best essential oil, with antiseptic and healing properties that is ideal for treating insomnia, headaches, depression, and reducing anxiety. Visitors will be able to see and smell the lavenders, which are now in full bloom.”

This year, the festival upgrades its agenda with activities for children, with the collaboration of the University Kindergarten Lito, and with a new range of gastronomy and wellness products with lavender. Events will last all day, from 11am until sundown at 7pm.
