Plenty of live music to look forward to

allusion quartet

Among the markets, the parties, and the ballets, there are also plenty of live music performances. From classical music to experimental soul and funky blues, the music events of the season are here to satisfy all tastes and preferences.

This Saturday, a performance in Larnaca will combine baroque and modern music. The Christmas Through the Centuries concert will feature mezzo-soprano Victoria Kalaydjian and pianist Milena Romanova, performing together at the House of Arts and Letters. Starting at 7pm, the concert will also include guest singers.

On Sunday evening, two performances will take place in Nicosia. At DownTown Live, bands Temple of Evil, Godblood and Crash ‘n’ Burn will perform live at 8pm while at New Division musician Della and her band will perform the last live event the bar will host this year.

christmas through the centuries

Monday night will host three more live music happenings in the capital city ranging from blues to jazz and classical music. An evening of country blues and alternative folk will take over Prozak as Alexis Macris and Saint December bring their music to the café-bar’s cosy indoor space. Macris’ fingerstyle guitar and vocals consist of timeless blues, folk and jazz traditions while his music pays homage to the rural regional styles and unique techniques of legendary figures while also embracing contemporary influences.

Saint December is the alternative folk music project of Brussels-based singer-songwriter Christopher Malapitan. Drawing on his life experiences as a global nomad, he crafts original songs exploring themes such as childhood memories, self-acceptance and belonging. In his live music performances, he creates an intimate experience by blending emotional and evocative songs with nostalgic storytelling. Their gig at Prozak on Monday 20 will kick off at 8pm.

Further into the old town, a Christmas jazz night will unfold. Yfantourgeio the Workplace will host Charlotte Storer and her jazz musician friends (Ofer Landsberg, Marios Menelaou and Marios Spyrou) for an evening of classic Christmas songs infused with jazz arrangements.

Finally, Pallouriotissa will host its own festive concert on Monday with Georgia Neocleous and Friends performing classic and lesser-known seasonal songs. Kanthos Arts Centre will host the musicians performing vocal solos and duets.
