In its second online edition, Dot on the Μap Industry Days will be held online between April 21 and 23 as part of Cyprus Film Days and the organising team has announced the selected feature film fiction projects to be pitched.

Seven teams of producers-directors with projects originating from countries of the Mediterranean will pitch their new feature film projects to representatives of the international film industry. Following group works and individual meetings, the filmmakers will take steps towards forming future collaborations between other filmmakers, international producers, financiers, sales agents, broadcasters, distributors, festival and film fund representatives.

The organisers of Dot on the Map say their vision is the development of this initiative into a dynamic platform for artistic and financial collaborations, which will contribute to the development of the art of filmmaking in Cyprus and the wider region.

“Dot on the Map Industry Days provides an excellent opportunity to network with industry professionals from across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa,” say the organisers, “in order to explore co-production and distribution opportunities, discuss new projects in development, and pursue cross-border collaborations.”

Following project submissions from across various countries in the Mediterranean, the seven films that were selected are: Gizem from Cyprus; Over Time and Distance from France, Israel, Italy; Lives of Hamid from France; The Hive from UK, Italy; Longer Will Be the Night from Algeria, France, Qatar; Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner from Egypt, France; and Philax from Turkey.

This year, two awards will be given. The Best Project award worth €11,000, offered by Full Moon Productions and a cash prize €500, offered by the Directors Guild of Cyprus to the director of the winning project. The second is the Agora Networking Award of Thessaloniki IFF which includes accommodation and free-market accreditation, awarded to the producer of a project as selected by the jury. The award winner(s) will be announced on the official website (cyprusfilmdays.com) in an English-language event.
